My Philosophy of Education

Every child is unique and a gift from God. My hope is to recognize and teach to each child's needs while preparing them with a solid Catholic educational foundation and fostering a love of learning!

The Buzz

September 10, 2012

The classroom volunteer forms were due last Friday. I received many and will be sending out our “classroom volunteers” calendar soon. If you can’t make it in on an assigned date, please try to find a substitute. If you cannot find a substitute, please let me know by email.

Our current writing goals are to write complete sentences with correction capitalization and punctuation. We aren’t so worried about spelling right now as we are striving to get our thoughts down on the paper. As new spelling concepts are taught with each spelling list, students will be expected to be able to apply those skills in their own writing.

We have begun our 1st service project of the year. Our class is in charge of collecting Yoplait Lids (the pink ones.) The children made posters and we’ve hung them up all over campus. We will be collecting Yoplait lids until Nov. 8 and then send them into Yoplait who will donate 10¢ for every lid we collect.

Walk-a-thon kick-off is this Friday! Your child will be bringing home a packet of information about the event. It is our school’s BIGGEST fundraiser. Please return the t-shirt size, permission slips and any other applicable forms next week. We also need volunteers for the Walk-a-thon. If you would like to volunteer, you may do so on-line. Just go to OMS’s web page and click on the volunteer link. Then click on the Walk-a-thon and then type in the password: omsfalcons. It’s all pretty easy! For more details, look for the Walk-a-thon hand-outs that are coming home this Friday.

Ashley Ornellus and Harrison Takken received Falcon Awards for Friendliness. Zoe Elliott and Griffin Watson received Falcon Awards for Following Directions. This week’s Falcon Award theme is Showing Kindness to Others.

Don’t forget about these things:

Monday – Mr. Eco Assembly

Homework Distributed

Tuesday – Picture Day

Wednesday – 8am Mass (!st graders MUST be accompanied by a parent)

Thursday –

Friday – Homework Collected
